The chief minister of Goa, Manohar Parikkar passes away at the age of 63, after a battle with pancreatic cancer for more than a year.
Manohar, who served as chief mister of Goa for seven years from BJP, left his last breath at his son’s place in Panaji on Sunday evening while he was being treated at his home. The schools and colleges are declared to be shut down as there will be a national mourning tomorrow, which will be followed by seven-day mourning for this tallest BJP leader.
Mr. Parrikar besides being the most ssuccessfulBJP leader of all times is also the first Indian Institute of Technology alumnus(of IIT, Bombay) to serve as Chief Minister of Goa in 2000. In 2014, he has resigned as the chief minister and served as the Defence Minister as per Modi’s request. He returned back to state politics in 2017 after BJP lost its power in Goa, and became the Chief Minister again.
President Ram Nath Kovind expressed his grief after his death, along with leaders of other political parties.
