Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy has declared that Congress will boycott the MLC elections which are to be held on March 12th. This is a result of accusing the TRS of defection of its lawyers being ‘encouraged’ ahead of the MLC polls.
“KCR assumed office after swearing as per constitution and violated the oath of office and admitted TDP and Congress MLAs into the TRS in a brazen manner by adopting all illegal means,” Uttam Reddy told reporters, on this occasion. He added that by Congress boycotting the elections, the people and voters of Telangana would know the undemocratic and anti-constitutional, illegal actions being adopted by the CM in these elections.
Consequently, Congress has decided to boycott the elections as there is no fairness in the elections and TRS has to hold all the responsibility to the unfairness. This is the first time that the party is boycotting an MLC election in both Telangana and AP.
In these elections, there are five vacancies in the council. While TRS has fielded four nominees, they left one seat to its ally AIMIM. The AIMIM has seven legislators. Referring and commenting back on Reddy’s accusations of TRS ‘purchasing’ TDP’s MLAs, TRS referred to instances of public representatives joining Congress from other parties and hit back on them calling them a ‘purchase’ too.
