Veteran director, actor and writer Dasari Narayana Rao (75) passed away at KIMS Hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday evening. He was ailing with severe health problems since last one year. He underwent several surgeries during last five months as his internal organs of digestive system, kidneys and lungs were badly infected. He was admitted in the hospital one week ago and once again underwent another surgery, but unfortunately this time he couldn’t survive.
Dasari Narayana Rao was born in Palakollu of West Godavari district on 1942, May 4th. He developed interest in theater arts from childhood. He entered into movie field with Tata Manavadu in 1972 and did more than 150 films during his long association with film industry. He not only directed the movies but also penned stories and acted in many films.
He is the one who introduced actor Mohan Babu and many directors to the film industry. His films with late NTR, ANR, Shobanbabu earned them all name and fame. Many of his films like Shiva Ranjani, Megha Sandesham,Premabhishekam, Gorintaku, Sardar Paparayudu, Bobbili Puli, Swargam Narakam, Mamagaru, Osey Ramulamma were super hits and successfully runs more than 100 days in many theaters.
He received many awards for his performance, directorial skills. The actors who acted in his direction also equally earned many awards and become poplar heroes in the industry.
Dadsari also entered into politics and served as union minister for home for coal ministry.
Dasari Narayana Rao was survived by one daughter and two sons. His funerals may be performed on Wednesday.
